The artist
Adolf Frankl
1903 Bratislava - 1983 Vienna
lived and worked in this house.
Here, he created the cycle of paintings and drawings
Visions from the Inferno
depicting his experiences in the
extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau.

"Through my works I have created a memorial
for all nations of the world.

No one, regardless of religion, race, or political conviction
should ever again suffer such - or similar - atrocities!"

The Frankl Family express their heartfelt gratitude to all
who helped them, and others, to survive the Holocaust.

1. Historical Marker for the Artist A. Frankl Unveiled (HaGalil, in German). "On the 28th of September, a day before Yom Kippur, a crowd of about 400 people gathered in the Dorotheergasse in Vienna to witness the unveiling of an historical marker commemorating the painter Adolf Frankl, who depicted the horror of Auschwitz with canvas and brushes. His paintings are currently exhibited in the Gallery VIS AVIS." (Submitted on September 21, 2017.)
