1. F.W. Woolworth Company Store Marker

Inscription. F.W. Woolworth's stores have been in various Bakersfield locations since 1911. The most modernly-equipped and air-conditioned F.W. Woolworth's store on the Pacific Coast opened to the public on May 6, 1950.

Jackson Brothers of Los Angeles constructed the modernistic four-story building, which included a 74-foot lunch counter that sat 36 diners. The F.W. Woolworth five-and-dime store closed in January of 1994 and the Five and Dime Antique Mall opened here in December 1994.

Sadly the antique mall is gone, but they did save the lunch counter, which is open. They did add some extra services.
