Inscription. This 1889 house is an outstanding example of the Queen Anne style. The two-story structure has a distinguishing wrap-around veranda with circular corner bay. The hip roof is accented by Stick Style gable brackets. The original basalt stone retaining wall remains along the front (north) property line.
Dr. and Mrs. Logan, uncle and aunt to Lay Carlisle occupied the house for a number of years. Lay and Marie Carlisle later became residents. Carlisle operated a jewelry store and bookstore on Second Street in The Dalles, beginning about 1927.

Erected by City of The Dalles.
