The roads along the Mohawk Valley, passing through Schenectady, Amsterdam, Johnstown and Gloversville, enroute the Sacandaga Valley, are particularly good for automobiling. The Adirondack Inn is ably managed by Mr. C. O. Chamberlin, to whom applications for rates and rooms should be addressed."

In the early 1890s many short line railroads were building amusement parks as a way to increase rail line patronage. In 1891 the Fonda Johnstown & Gloversville (FJ&G) purchased thirty-five acres of land near the end of its Sacandaga Line and made it into a summer resort called Sacandaga Park, and built the Adirondack Inn at a cost of $20,000. Two additions in the 1890s almost doubled the inn's size. The Adirondack Inn was 4 stories high had 100 rooms and could accommodate 250 guests. where people could sit and enjoy the bands and activities that took place on the lawn. The Inn was also across from the railroad platform providing easy access to guests. An impressive structure, the Adirondack Inn was unoccupied for a short time before it was destroyed by fire on September 8, 1975.

In 1952 the FJ&G railroad sold off its assets in the Sacandaga Park to a Florida investment group called Adirondack Properties. The 750 acre property sale included: the Adirondack Inn, the Golf Course & Club, Heeswijck, the Rustic Theatre, the Beach Club, the Dance Hall, the Park Station, a dozen cottages, miscellaneous buildings and the water and sewer plants
