Regarding Veterans Memorial. I found the spelling of the word 'BURRIED' interesting and wonder if it was intentional since I've never seen it spelled that way.
The famous grave of John King Luttrell who was a U.S. Congressman is buried near this memorial. He was a Sergeant of Arms for the California State Assembly during the American Civil War from 1861-1865.
