1. Marion School District Marker
Inscription. May 10, 1869, a petition was submitted the county court for established of School District No. One the Marion district. The formation of the district was approved by the circuit superintendent of public schools. The school operated by the original district was housed in a one-room structure which could accommodate about 35 pupils. The home economics cottage and cafeteria on this site was completed May 15, 1930, and the elementary school in 1949.
