1. Out of the ashes Marker
When German bombing raids in 1940 destroyed the area, the City Wall was revealed once again. For more than 20 years, the area remained undeveloped allowing archaeologists to identify the site of the Roman fort for the first time. A new road, London Wall, was constructed in 1956, as a new city emerged from the ruins. New developments have been designed to preserve and enhance the area's historic core.

3. Noble Street Viewing Walkway - Looking South
This photo shows the Noble Street Viewing Walkway, along which one may walk and view the remnants of the London Wall. Also visible along the walkway, and visible here, although barely, are (from north to south): the Out of the Ashes, Streets Ahead, and Set in Stone markers.
4. Roman Fort and City Wall, 200 AD
At the southern end of the walkway is a transparent artist's illustration of what the wall may have looked like in Roman times, ca. 200 AD. If one stands at the proper angle, it is possible to superimpose the illustration upon the wall remnants to better imagine what may have been here.
