Sampliner’s Dry Goods
c. 1890
The Sampliners opened Grand Junction's first fine men's clothing store at this location in 1895. The store expanded and became Rush-Sanford Clothing and finally Brownson's Clothing Store. The owners of the Rockslide Brewery were careful to maintain the historical integrity of the building when they opened their new restaurant and brewery in 1994.

Regarding Sampliner’s Dry Goods. Portions of the existing building probably date to an original 1890s brick bank. The clothing lines offered were expanded by a second company, Rush-Sanford, and again later by Brownson’s. Instead of tearing the old building down, the owners of the present day Rockslide Brewpub & Restaurant went through a full-scale rehabilitation in 1994.
