Regarding Vietnam War Memorial. The marker makes the claim that the Vietnam War was "the longest war in U.S. history", citing the span of 1961-1975. However, if one were to take 1961 as the starting date of the Vietnam War, then the War in Afghanistan should now be considered of greater duration, having begun in October, 2001, and continuing into the present. But in determining the length of the Vietnam War, some consider US involvement in the war from 1955 onwards as part of that war, which would still make it of longer duration.
