Regarding The Lion. This statue was originally located at nearby Gay’s Lion Farm, a popular tourist attraction. In 1925, El Monte High School adopted the Lions name for its teams, and the Gays provided a lion mascot for big games. After the Lion Farm closed, this statue was donated to the school.
