Inscription. This block, from the alley to the east and Oregon Avenue to the west, was fronted with five one story brick homes. These residences were constructed for John B. Westermeyer in 1891 for speculative purposes. During the Spring of 1924, Harry Mass purchased two homes at this location and hired contractor Paul M. Will to design and built this store. Will employed elements such as rounded tiles and engaged piers to create one of the few Mission Style influenced structures on Cherokee Street.

After its completion, the structure initially contained two separate stores. Maass' younger brother, August, operated a plumbing supply store in the western portion while the Washington Credit Clothing Company occupied the eastern half. Both businesses continued to operate until the Maass Family sold the structure to Abe Goodman in 1950. Goodman utilized the entire space to sell draperies for several decades.
