Brownell Hall
1845-1877
The inscribed stone below is the cornerstone of Brownell Hall, which was located on Trinity College's first campus at the present site of the State Capitol in Hartford. Built in 1845 as a dormitory, it was dedicated to the Rt. Rev. Thomas C. Brownell, the College's founder and first president. Preserved for one hundred thirty years in the basement of Seabury Hall, recovered during the Long Walk's renovation in 2007, and installed here in 2008, the stone is a tangible link with Trinity's distinguished history.
