The West Front
— The Ruins of Lady Godiva's Cathedral —
The west front is the best preserved part of the nave. Only the interior of the wall can be seen. It was built in the early 13th century as part of a grand re-fronting of the cathedral. It was discovered in 1856 when the Blue Coat School was being rebuilt. The gap in the centre contained a great door, which led down into the cathedral via an arc of steps.
Above the door was a large painted glass window, fragments of which were found in the 1999 excavation.
