Inscription.
This club was founded in 1898, its first directors including Edward Savage, Edward G. Cone and Edward Pattinson. Fifty acres were purchased from the Adams family for the overall club grounds; 12 ½ were designated for a golf course and the Adams’ house was used as the clubhouse. Thomas Bendelow, the famous Scottish architect, was hired to design a 9-hole golf course along the Middlesex-Essex Turnpike (now Colonia Boulevard).

In 1923 the course was expanded to 18 holes by Robert White following the acquisition of 53 acres on the west side of New Dover Road. Golf course architects Hal Purdy and Frank Duane did major work to the golf course in 1969-70.

This member-sponsored club has been in continuous operation since its opening and is the 13th oldest golf club in New Jersey. It applied for membership to the U.S. Golf Association in 1901. Through the years it has expanded to include a driving range, putting green, half-way house and an Olympic sized swimming pool.
