1. The New Kitchen Marker
The building was part of a small complex added to the castle when it was rebuilt in the 1500s. The old kitchen block had been demolished by this time following repeated attacks on the castle.
However, the two fireplaces may have been too small for cooking, raising the possibility that the Grant family's kitchen was elsewhere.
Slow Cooker
A cauldron could cook different foods together – such as beef, poultry, eggs, bean and cereal puddings and wrapped cuts of bacon at the bottom. A cauldron leg was found in the castle and is displayed in the visitor centre.
