Dr. Charles Kelly is a 1964 graduate of Southeastern University. He has served forty-five years as an Assemblies of God minister and pastured two churches prior to being elected to the position of District Secretary-Treasurer for the North Carolina District of the Assemblies of God. He served in that capacity for twenty-two years when he was elected District Superintendent in 1992. Dr. Kelly has served the Assemblies of God as a General Presbyter of the General Council and member of the Commission on Christian Higher Education, in addition to serving as Director of Home Missions and Church Planting for the North Carolina District.
In 1970, Dr. Kelly joined the Southeastern University Board of Directors and chaired the Finance and Audit Committee for more than two decades. He became Chairman of the Board in 2003 and in 2006 became the first Chairman of the university’s Board of Regents. Dr. Kelly and his wife, Eloise, met while students at Southeastern and have two sons, Kenneth and Keith, both Assemblies of God ministers.
