Regarding Presidential Visit. Throughout the 20th century, it was common for U.S. Presidents to make appearances at MLB games, especially throwing the ceremonial first pitch on occasion. However, it wasn't until 2004 that a sitting President would attend a St. Louis Cardinals home game (a marker in this series highlights that). President Obama would eventually make an appearance at the 2009 MLB All-Star Game, which took place in St. Louis that year.
Also see . . . President Taft Comes to Town. The President actually watched two baseball games in St. Louis that day. He would leave this game early, to catch the St. Louis Browns play at Sportsman's Park, where the team played against the Cleveland Naps. After the game was called a tie (due to darkness), Taft and his entourage would leave town and go back to Washington. (Submitted on August 26, 2020, by Jason Voigt of Glen Carbon, Illinois.)
