1. Historic Sedona Marker
The Sedona Historical Society is a non-profit organization whose mission is to research, preserve and teach the history of the greater Sedona area. The Society plays an active and important role in local historic preservation and in displaying and interpreting local history for the benefit of citizens and visitors. The Society manages a large research library, and much of it’s collection of local historic artifacts, documents and photographs are on display at the Sedona Heritage Museum.The Society organized in 1982. It began meeting informally with programs of old-timers relating local history. In the early 1990s they initiated the first survey of historic properties both in Sedona and in nearby areas. They then pursued the possibility of a Museum and when the City of Sedona purchased the Jordan farmstead, they worked cooperatively to develop the site. The park is now called the Jordan Historical Park, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Society opened the Sedona Heritage Museum in the Jordan farmstead structures and now operates the museum 7 days/week. Besides exhibits, it offers educational programs to local
