1. Penn State Obelisk Marker
Inscription.  Containing 281 stones arranged in natural geologic order, this monument was erected in 1895 under supervision of professors T.C. Hopkins and M.C. Ihlseng, School of Mines, the Pennsylvania State College, to demonstrate weathering properties and subsequent value of Pennsylvania building stone. Collection of stones by William C.B. Alexander, '97.
 
Location. 40° 47.729′ N, 77° 51.803′ W. Marker is in State College, Pennsylvania, in Centre County. Marker is on Pattee Mall east of Pollock Road, on the right when traveling east. Touch for map.
