Inscription.  7000 acres bought in 1797 by John Beddoe, who added 600 acres for his home on the lake in 1798. He was "John Beddoe of Esperanza"
 
Erected 2014 by William G. Pomeroy Foundation.
 
Location. 42° 35.684′ N, 77° 8.181′ W. Marker is in Branchport, New York, in Yates County. Marker is on New York State Route 54A, on the right when traveling north. At the scenic view pull off.
