1. North American T-2 Buckeye United States Naval Test Pilot School Marker
Inscription.
A T-2C Buckeye, assigned to the United States Naval Test Pilot School at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, MD. The United States Naval Test Pilot School (USNTPS) provides instruction to experienced pilots, flight officers, and engineers in the processes of techniques of aircraft and systems test and evaluation. The school investigates and develops new flight test techniques, publishes manuals for use of the aviation test community for the standardization of flight test techniques and project reporting, and conducts special projects. USNTPS operates approximately 50 aircraft of 13 types.

Used as a spin trainer at USNTPS in 1978 from a squadron at Corpus Christi

· Served the Navy for 56 years as the service’s intermediate jet trainer
· Reliable and strong for students
· 529 in total constructed at Air Force Plant 85 near Columbus, Ohio
· With its non-after burning J85 engines, it was introduced in the late 1960s.
· Was the Navy’s primary trainer up until the late 1980s.
· September 25, 2015 marked its final operational flight with the Navy.
