1. Lewis and Clark Expedition Memorial Stone
Inscription.  Near here at Camp Dubois, the Lewis and Clark Detachment spent the winter of 1803. They left on May 14, 1804, ascending the Missouri River to its source. Crossed the Great Divide reaching the Pacific on November 7, 1805. They returned to Illinois on September 23, 1806 having concluded one of the most dramatic and significant events in our history.

Location. 38° 48.309′ N, 90° 6.81′ W. Marker is in Hartford, Illinois, in Madison County. Marker is on Levee Road near Illinois Route 3. You値l see the Lewis and Clark State Historic Site signs directing you onto Levee Road. If you go straight (east) towards the river, you値l find the marker. This location is south of the historic camp area. The fort site is probably the far river bank on the right.
