Inscription.

(English translation:) The Former Prime Minister and Mayor of Reykjavik, Jón Thorláksson, had the house built in the year 1928. The architect Einar Erlendsson did the plans for building, and the reliefs on the pediment by Guthmund Einarsson from Mithdal show the arrival of Ingolf Arnarson (i.e, the first settler in Iceland). When Einar Benediktsson bought the plot in 1907 it was considered the most expensive spot in Iceland and after that was called the Golden Plot.
