(English translation:) Björn Jónsson, editor and later a government minister, erected this house in 1886 on plot No. 8 at Austurstræti. He published the weekly newspaper Ísafold from 1874, and the printing works and building were named after it. His apartment was on the upper floor of the building, and on the lower floor was the printing press, where the Morgunbladid (Iceland's largest daily newspaper) was printed from its founding in 1913 to 1956. The house was taken down and moved onto a new foundation here in Aðalstræti in the year 1999.
