Regarding Pioneer Oil Refinery. The refinery location is fenced off and access is not allowed but you can get a decent view looking through the fence. The site is located near 23864 Pine Street, Newhall, California.
It is the oldest still-standing oil refinery in the Western Hemisphere (perhaps in the world). The site was designated as California Historical Landmark No.172 on March 6, 1935. In 1984, Standard Oil of California changed its name to Chevron.

5. Pioneer Oil Refinery Buildings
Actual site is not easy to find. From marker, head East on Lyons Road to Newhall Avenue. Turn right onto Newhall Avenue. Pass the park and rail tracks to Pine Street. Turn right on Pine Street. About 1/4 mile up the road is an opening/driveway, all dirt, turn left follow dirt driveway till you see sign declaring private property no entrance. You have arrived at the site.
