Aguascalientes, Mexico — The Central Highlands (North America)
The Aguascalientes Railroad Depot Neighborhood
Inscription.

The Aguascalientes Railroad Depot Neighborhood
In this beautiful neighborhood, tradition and modernity have been combined. The most remote memory evokes the hot springs that would give their name to the city, and its waterways of crystalline waters that brought life to the fertile lands of Triana, La Salud and San Marcos. It reminds us of that clean stream that has quenched our thirst for centuries, which still delights us and even more, purifies us.
Since 1824, the public swimming pools, like that of Los Arquitos, were an ideal site for the delight of many generations.
Modernity arrived in Aguascalientes in 1884 with the Mexican Central Railroad, because its steam technology would set in motion not only the large locomotives, but the economy and our 19th century society were also transformed.
The fire and water, iron and adversity were the untamed elements that man's tenacity submitted here to the ideal of progress. Science and technology, the anvil and the lathe, the square and the compass, all were its resources.
In this rough
railway performance, the cult of work they professed was forged, almost religiously, by workers, laborers, drivers and office workers. From this workplace the venerable memory of many railroad stewards would emerge, as a paradigm of the exemplary citizen.
