Opelousas in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana — The American South (West South Central)
Delta Theater
1920
Construction began in November 1919 and was completed the following year, opening as the home to Christman & Riseman Hardware and Furniture Store. The building was later leased to Collins Conrad of Breaux Bridge, who renovated it and opened The Conrad Theater on April 1, 1934. Later that year, it was sold to Joseph Guillory and George Bradley of Eunice and renamed The Delta Theater. Southern Amusement Company, Inc. of Lake Charles purchased the building in 1936. It was remodeled in 1955 and reopened as a state of the art movie cinema. Purchased in 2009 by St. Landry Parish Government, it opened the following year as the Historic Delta Grand Theatre. It is the oldest remaining theater in the city.
