Booker T. Washington School
Franklin's grade school for children of color was here from 1873-1951 and was called West School until 1928 when Franklin's School's Board of Trustees resolved:
"That the West School Building shall hereafter be known as the Booker T. Washington School in honor of the man regarded as the greatest of his race...who was interested in and gave the greater part of his life to the cause of education."
The building was razed in 1981.
