Regarding 169 South Prospect St.. South Prospect Street is a nineteenth and, early twentieth century residential neighborhood which was once the address of many of Hagerstown's leading citizens.
The houses numbered 151, 157, 169-181 and 203 appear to have been Italianate in influence originally but were altered in later years. Each was "colonialized" on the facade, probably about 1900, and all were originally 2 1/2 stories high.
The changes [via modernizing] frequently amounted to not much more than Roman Doric columns, as found on numbers 151 and 169.
