1. Gorham Apartments Marker
Inscription. Constructed in the Queen Anne style in 1883, with apartments on the upper floors and the prestigious Gorham Silver Company on the lower floors. One of the first apartment houses as well as one of the first mixed use buildings by the prominent architect Edward Hale Kendall, whose distinguished commissions included the Washington Building, the American Express Building on Jay Street and the Navarre Hotel.
Gorham Apartments was originally owned by the Goelet family, whose mansion stood across the street.
