1. The Cottage Museum Marker
Inscription.
The Cottage Museum, a typical 1900 family home, has been refurbished with the help of families who lived there. Josephine Harrison and the members of the Heritage Doll Club were actively involved in establishing the Cottage Museum.

The cottage is typical of the small family bungalows built across Florida in the early part of the 20th Century. It was moved here from its original site on 6th Street, just north of the Historical Park. This location was very convenient for Joe Stephens, Palmetto firefighter and one time owner of this home. The Manatee County Agricultural Museum, now located next door, was once the site of the Palmetto ire Station.

Erected by Palmetto Historical Park.

Regarding The Cottage Museum. The Palmetto Historical Park is a step back in time, a tiny village of historical buildings from Palmetto’s past. The park consists of an 1880’s post office, one-room schoolhouse, and a turn-of-the century cottage sited around a brick-paver circle. The back o the Carnegie Library, built in 1914, sits just off the circle, with a military museum and chapel across the way.
