1. Lackland / Baker Mansion Marker
Inscription.  This magnificent antebellum structure was home to Dennis Lackland until his death in 1864. His son inherited the estate and lived there until his own death in 1920. Purchased by Major Wallace Baker in 1926, it is a prominent landmark and Overland's oldest home still in use.

Regarding Lackland / Baker Mansion. Some sources say that Dennis Lackland's son, Rufus, who inherited the mansion, died in 1910 instead of 1920. Rufus was a prominent banker and businessman, including being president of Boatmen's Bank and Laclede Gas Company in St. Louis.
