Site of the Preston-Wickham Home, where pioneer Norwalk newspaper was published, 1836-65. Restored building, new Firelands Museum with historic collection, now on Case Avenue adjoining library.
 
Erected 1955 by The Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company (A&P grocery stores), on opening day, February 23.

Regarding Site of the Preston-Wickham Home. The Preston-Wickham Mansion originally stood at 38 West Main Street. When it was to be torn down, the Firelands Historical Society purchased it and moved it to its present location behind the library. The society’s website says it was opened to the public in May 20, 1957; this tablet says February 23, 1955.
