For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty as pilot and aircraft commander of a search and rescue helicopter operation against enemy forces in North Vietnam, Lt. Clyde E. Lassen was officially awarded the Medal of Honor on 16 January 1969. Clyde Lassen was a 1960 graduate of Venice High School.
