Regarding Mt. Zion Episcopal Church. "Previous to the establishment of the town, the Episcopal Church had been located in the gap and originally called Hedges Meeting House, dating back to ca. 1745. In l8l8, this very beautiful church building was built and named Mt. Zion Episcopal Church. It is of brick and one of the oldest Episcopal Churches in the State."
