This ginkgo - "Maiden Hair” tree was planted on the Othniel S. Williams property by the Rural Art Society circa 1850.

The Ginkgo Biloba Tree
The tree was planted in the 1850s in the gardens of Othniel S. Williams who built the home at 16 West Park Row, now Alexander Hamilton Institute. The gardens were extensive with paths, flowers, benches, plants, etc. It extended from the rear of the 16 West Park Row to where the tree was. The canal and the train tracks were parallel and just east of today's Chenango Ave.

Williams was a prominent lawyer, judge, businessman, Hamilton College graduate, and Clinton civic leader.
