1. Old Neptune School Marker
Inscription. In 1885 J.T. Mosely deeded this property for use as a school or church for African Americans in the Neptune Community. To enhance the quality of public education for African Americans in rural Cheatham County, school officials built Neptune School on the property. The Cheatham County School Board voted in 1951 to consolidate this school with the Ashland City Negro School. Neptune's last class session was held in the building in 1951.
