1. John Baptiste Allgeyer Marker
Inscription. Born in Baden, Germany. He immigrated to the United States in 1868 and settled in Missouri. He moved back and forth between Missouri and California before finally settling here about 1885. He lived east of El Monte on sixteen acres on which he grew walnuts. He was deeply interested in the public affairs of the area. Allgeyer Street is named after him. His father was said to be seven feet tall and a bodyguard of Kaiser Wilhelm.
