Premier local de la Banque de Montréal à Québec, 3, Rue Saint-Pierre, tel qu'il devait apparaître à Noël en 1817. Ce bureau de Québec fut la première succursale qu’ouvrit la B de M. A ce titre, il marque le commencement du système des banques a succursales du Canada. Cette plaque commémore cet événement et marque 150e anniversaire. Le présent édifice est occupé par la banque depuis 1928.

English:
First Bank of Montreal premises in Quebec City, 3 St. Peter Street, as they appeared at Christmas, 1817. The opening marked the beginning of the branch-banking system in Canada. This plaque commemorates that event and was installed by the bank to observe its 150th anniversary in 1967. This building has been occupied by the bank since 1928.

the "Montreal Bank". The bank was first located in rooms rented on Rue Saint-Paul, Montreal. In the same year, the bank opened its first branch in Quebec City. (Submitted on July 11, 2020, by Cosmos Mariner of Cape Canaveral, Florida.) 

2. In 1817, the Montreal Bank became Canada’s first bank. The bank’s Articles of Association agreed to by its founders are in many ways its Magna Carta. There were 25 articles in all, setting out the rules, regulations and conditions of the banking business, the capital stock of the bank, the number of directors, director eligibility, and other conditions “for the good management of the affairs of the said Association or Company.” (Submitted on July 11, 2020, by Cosmos Mariner of Cape Canaveral, Florida.)
