Pioneer Store. . Benjamin Shreve, the settlement's earliest known schoolteacher, entered the general merchandise business in 1855. Credited with naming the town, he was appointed first postmaster of Lafayette in 1857. He erected this building in the early 1860's as a store, post office, and dwelling house.
