1. The Mansion of the Pioneer Memorial State Park Marker
Inscription. This property was acquired in 1830 and the house erected by Major James Taylor, prominent in civil affairs of that period, whose grandfather, Samuel Taylor, was one of the first town trustees of Harrodsburg, also member of the convention that formed the first constitution of Kentucky, when it became a commonwealth in 1792. Direct descendants of Major Taylor have owned and occupied this home until it passed as a historic shrine into the keeping of the Kentucky Pioneer Memorial Association, June 16, 1925.
