1. Elephant Memorial
Inscription. There is buried here a wild elephant who in defence of his herd charged and derailed a train on the 17th day of Sept. 1894.
 
Erected 1894 by the British government.

Location. 4° 1.41′ N, 101° 2.717′ E. Marker is in Taman Melor, Perak, in Teluk Intan. Marker can be reached from Lorong 14 just east of Lorong 4, on the left when traveling east. Regarding Elephant Memorial. It is said the train had struck and killed a young elephant earlier that day. This was a new railroad, built in 1893. It was removed by Japan during WWII.
