Inscription. This store became Baldwyn's most iconic business in the mid-20th century when owner Tom Mauldin erected the neon sign that still hangs. Constructed by the Steeds, a family of masons, the building originally housed City Drug & Jewelry Co. Guy Stocks, remembered as the town's only Republican of his day, was proprietor. Mauldin joined Stocks by 1920, attached his name and marked Main Street forever. Later partnerships with Ira Caldwell and Clyde Tapp followed. Clyde and brother Jimmy carried on the business they made their own into the 1980's.
