1. New Castle and Frenchtown Railroad Marker
Inscription. One of the earliest in the United States, the line ran from New Castle on the Delaware River, crossed the highway here, and extended to Frenchtown on the Elk River 1½ miles west of this point.

It is at the intersection of Augustine Herman Highway (Maryland Route 213) and Lewis Shore Road, on the right when traveling south on Augustine Herman Highway. Touch for map.
