Inscription.
History:
• In the 1700's, a log block house sat here. The present structure was built in 1816 and became known as Chamberlain's Tavern.
• For years this was the "center of town” and a frequent gathering place for local militia.
• From 1937 - 1940, it is listed as a tourist home in the telephone directory, run by the Edwards family.
• The residence passed from the Edwards' daughter to daughter until purchased by Ralph Jenkins in 1963. It has been utilized as a funeral home and private residence ever since.

Fun Fact -
A large spruce tree on the south side of the house had the distinction of being the first Colebrook "Community Christmas Tree.” A tree at the front of the building today still holds that honor.
