1. Joliet's Business Center Marker
Inscription. For many years this area of Bluff & Exchange (Jefferson) was Joliet's business center. On the NW corner pioneers traded at T.P. Dunham Hardware (later Barrett's), Clement Mercantile, Wilcox Drygoods, and W.A. Strong Hardware. Charles Clement, who was influential in the establishment of many of the first businesses on Bluff, purchased this acre of land in 1834 for $125.
