1. Woodrow Wilson (1919) Marker
Inscription. Woodrow Wilson, 28th President of the United States, created a plan for peace at the end of World War I. The Fourteen Points agreement was part of his League of Nations idea, which was the forerunner of the United Nations. President Wilson was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1919 for his efforts to form the League of Nations and to seek a just peace.

The world must be made safe for democracy. Its peace must be planted upon the tested foundations of political liberty.

Erected 2013 by Nobel Peace Laureate Project.

1. The Nobel Peace Prize 1919 (NobelPrize.org). "The Nobel Peace Prize 1919 was awarded to Thomas Woodrow Wilson.... Woodrow Wilson received his Nobel Prize one year later, in 1920. During the selection process in 1919, the Norwegian Nobel Committee decided that none of the year's nominations met the criteria as outlined in the will of Alfred Nobel. According to the Nobel Foundation's statutes, the Nobel Prize can in such a case be reserved until the following year, and this statute was then applied. Woodrow Wilson therefore received his Nobel Prize for 1919 one year later, in 1920." (Submitted on October 7, 2020.)
