Westlake "Dog Trot" Cabin
circa 1842 - 1845
The "dog trot" cabin consisted of two cabins joined together by a breezeway. Much of the wood for fuel was kept here during rainy weather. A home of this type could provide living quarters for two families.
This was the home of Davis Westlake and Mary Chambers. They married shortly after the cabin was built in January 1842. Westlake was a master collier at the Maramec Iron Works.
