World War II 36th Division Support Troops
In grateful recognition of the supporting roles performed by the 442nd Infantry and 517th Parachute Combat Teams. The 442nd suffered severe casualties in the successful rescue of a 141st Infantry Battalion caught behind enemy lines in the Vosges mountains in eastern France. The 517th, in the pursuit of the German army north of Rome as well as the launching an inland airborne assault prior to the division's H-hour landing across the beaches of southern France.
