Inscription. This building is the last vestige of three Soulard breweries that operated within a block of this site. This structure was originally part of the Schilling and Schneider Brewery. Later, Green Tree Brewery used the building as an accounting office and its tasting room. The brewery was home of Louis Koch's recipe for what is now Boston Lager, the number one selling American beer. The property was owned by Max Feuerbacher, whose home (the "Lion House") can be seen just two blocks west of this site.
